So sad to hear of Wally's passing. Wally was a complete legend. He took a big chance and gave me my first job as Stage Manager at the Spa Pavilion, Felixstowe when I was just 19 years old, and continued to be nothing but supportive and encouraging throughout. A couple of years after he'd 'retired', I bumped into him at a tourism event in Peterborough. He greeted me with that warm smile of his and a hearty handshake. I mentioned how well retirement seemed to be treating him, and he replied with three words: "Consultancy, dear boy!". He went on to explain, with a wink, that it was "half the work, twice the pay" and suggested I do the same one day. Always charming and unswervingly positive, I never met anyone more suited to the role of Tourism & Entertainments Manager - they truly broke the mould when they made Wally. My deepest condolences to Hilary, and Wally's family. R.I.P.
